Next 3 weeks of practice - MWF - medballs, T/Th/S - run

3rd 3 weeks of practice - MWF - strength training (no weights), T/Th/S - run

4th 3 weeks of practice - MWF - strength training (weights), T/Th/S - run

We will cycle this program during the season rotating about every 3 weeks.

Practice Notes

It is very important to stay hydrated during practice, so bring a water bottle or gatorade everyday!!!  Also, bring power bars or some other protein enriched bar for during practice. Your body will be burning lots of calories and will break down muscle fiber and it must be replenished!!

Goal Meetings

We will be scheduling goal meetings for the first few weeks of the season. It is my goal, to have everyone in a meeting by the end of the 3rd week of practice. We will begin on Monday 8-10-09. These meetings will be about 10-15 minutes long and parents are encouraged to come!! Please bring your goal sheets with you during meeting and attached time sheet as well. We will try and do about 3-4 meetings a day until all the senior team is covered.

Time Sets

We will again be doing time sets during practice (2 - 3 times a week). 25, 50, 100 distances will be timed and averages calculated. The results will be posted as soon as averages are calculated on the bulletin board at the Y. The person who does the best improvement on their averages by the end of the season will get a $100 itunes gift card! The time sets will start in September.

Grade Check

In the public school system (high school at least) progress reports will be given every 4 1/2 weeks. I would like to check these progress reports at these times. Swimmers must attempt to maintain a C average or better in all subjects or swimmers will not be allowed to participate in 2 practices a week until grade is improved. These days will be Tues/Thurs practices (though not intentional) but these may be days that something fun happens! Also as a reward, if all Senior team members meet this criteria then we will skip a practice day and do something fun (all day game day, bowling, skating, etc)

Rewards

As a reward for the hard work you will be doing, I will be giving away on a weekly basis, a gift card to the person that I think has done the best job for the week. Things that will be considered are attendance, effort in practice, attitude toward team mates, being on time, etc. The cards will be anything from Target, Walmart, Itunes, etc.

I look forward to an AWESOME season and lots of fast times!!! See you at the pool.
Daniel
